District Level Tournament
District Level Tournament is to be organized by All Nepal Football Association for the first time in the history of football development in Nepal. Teams from 46 districts will compete on a league basis. There will be at least 12 teams and a maximum of 18 teams from each of the districts.

  • Top two teams from each district (altogether 12 teams) will qualify for the knockout stage. That is winner of Group A will play against the runners-up of Group B and so on).
  • Winner of the knockout matches will be declared as "A Division" of the very district. Hence, there will be a maximum of 6 A Division teams and a minimum of 4 A Division teams per district.
  • Losers of the knockout matches will be declared as "B Division" of the district.
  • The last teams or each preliminary group will be declared as C Division of the district.
  • The remaining teams will be called as "Ungraded" teams.
  • Winners of the knockout matches can play for the "District Championship". If they do, the following format applies:
Winner of A vs. runner-up of B; Winner of this match will be AB
Winner of B vs. runner-up of A: Winner of this match will be BA
Winner of C vs. runner-up of D; Winner of this match will be CD
Winner of D vs. runner-up of C; Winner of this match will be DC
Winner of E vs. runner-up of F; Winner of this match will be EF
Winner of F vs. runner-up of E; Winner of this match will be FE

In the next round, AB, BA and CD will play in a group and the best out of the three will encounter against the top team from the pool of DC, EF and FE. The final will decide the district champion team.


Birendra Memorial Cup 2002.
Birendra Memorial Cup is to be organized by ANFA from 10th Feb 2002 to 22nd Feb 2002. The Cup is the first of its kind in the history of Nepalese Football, at the national level, in the memory of the Late King. The players for the Nepalese National Team will be selected on the performance of the local players during the tournament. The National Team will represent Nepal in the 3rd SAF Football Tournament to be held in Dacca from 20th January 2002. There will be a monetary reward for every participatory team in the tournament. A cash prize worth NRs. 100,000 will be awarded to the champion where as the runner-up will have the privilege of pocketing an amount worth NRs. 50,000. The second runner-up will content itself with NRs. 25,000. The "Best Player" of the tournament will be awarded NRs. 5,000.

Altogether 18 teams will take part in the tournament. There will be 12 A Division Teams and 2 Departmental Teams of Nepal. 3 Foreign Teams are confirmed for the tournament.
